We too won a couple of the Tuesday races at Addington. The syndicate has the photos on the wall and with a battler it was not about the stake. I heard Kevin Smith on the radio this arvo and he was proud of the stakes and that more Canterbury horses would chase the big stakes. So the latest purchase for the syndicate is two weanlings to race in the North Island where they are doing better stake wise.
Can anyone explain why the 2yr old and older maiden pace at Addington on Friday is worth $8000 and the 3 yr old and older maiden is worth only $5,000. No conditions attached Stakes at Addington are truly pathetic this time of year. An embarrassment for the industry.
Genuine congratulations to the NZMTC for finally seeing sense and raising the minimum stake and other stakes across the board. Looks like the pressure bought to bear has paid dividends. It will hopefully benefit the number of horses starting in Canterbury
